This website was created to document my personal private label business. My goal is to build an “FBA Road Map” that anyone can follow to do the same thing. So how did I get to this point?
I’m a big fan of Tim Ferriss and his book, The 4-Hour Work Week. In fact, that was one of the very first non-fiction books I read after my 10-year hiatus from reading after college. And it completely blew me away. It opened my eyes to ideas and business models that I never knew existed. At that point, I knew I needed my own “muse.” But reading that book led me down a rabbit hole of content, and I quickly stumbled upon Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income blog. That got my head spinning on this whole “passive income” idea.
I’ve had a full-time job ever since college, but I always wanted to start my own business. Before my enlightenment, I thought I needed tens of thousands of dollars to get started. So this “new” idea of building a side business online that generates some extra income was super appealing! Plus I have a wife, a full-time job and a baby on the way. I don’t exactly have an extra 20 hours a week to work on another business. (Wait. I thought I only needed 4 hours a week?).
So after years of struggling to figure out what I want to do, I’ve decided to sell private label products online. More specifically, I’m selling on Amazon using their FBA program (“Fulfillment by Amazon”) to process and ship everything. And – inspired by Pat Flynn’s blog – I want to be transparent and write about the entire process!
I’m figuring this whole thing out as I go, so my thoughts and ideas may change over time. And I’m always open to feedback, so please contact me with any input you may have. Hopefully this site becomes a resource for anyone interested in using FBA to sell private label products.
